Anna beheld the glory of God!

Luke chapter 2 verses 36 through 38 tells about the life of the Prophetess Anna. Anna was mature in age; she lived with her husband for seven years before his death and remained a widow for eighty-four years. Anna was a devout Jewish woman who may have been the wife or daughter of a temple priest. The scriptures let us know that she was committed to prayer and fasting as she served the Lord day and night. I believe she and Simeon spent several hours talking about the arrival of the "Consolation of Israel," and in the fullness of time, they both beheld the one spoken of by the prophets. Isaiah declared, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us, a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulders. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

(Isaiah 9:6). Like Anna, we see the glory of God all around us. We see His glory in His word, in the lives of the saints, and the manifestation of his goodness through the world.

Prayer of confession

Father, even as Anna waited for the arrival of her savior, the glory of God, your son Jesus Christ, so do we wait for your glory to fill the church. We anticipate daily that your presence, power, glory, and goodness will be manifested in our lives as we continue to do the work of the ministry. Thank you for manifestations of healing, deliverance, debt cancellation, wisdom, knowledge, and favor. Thank you for our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ!
